 

#  MPHQ researchers Markus Greiner and Mikhail Lukin lead team to develop 256 bit quantum simulator

A team of physicists, led by MPHQ Co-director Prof. Markus Greiner and MPHQ PI Mikhail Lukin, from the [Harvard-MIT Center for Ultracold Atoms](http://www.rle.mit.edu/mit-harvard-center-for-ultracold-atoms/) and other universities has developed a special type of quantum computer known as a programmable quantum simulator capable of operating with 256 quantum bits, or “qubits.” Read more about the remarkable development [here](https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2021/07/harvard-led-physicists-create-256-qubit-programmable-quantum-simulator/).
